The Little Prince and the Rubber Duck

“Hello duck!” the little prince exclaimed.

This was another planet the little prince paid a visit to throughout his long journey. The place was inhabited by a giant rubber duck, and the little prince found himself getting extraordinarily amused to see the gorgeous and cute creature. He could finally reach a planet without any strange grown-ups.

"Hello my dear visitor!" replied the duck. "Let's take photos together!"

"Hum...photos?"

"Arr...wait..." The duck suddenly gazed at the little prince with full concentration. "Oh! Okay...there's no need for you to take photos with me..."

"Oh? I don't quite understand..." the little prince felt puzzled.

"You can see from the painting that the elephant is inside a boa constrictor while many others consider that stuff to be a hat. Therefore, it's no need for you to take photos with me."

"But why others will have the urgency in taking photos with you?" the little prince got even more confused.

"Ar ha!" the duck answered with pride. "I can say it like this: when all the grown-ups are willing to take photos with me, then they won't focus on matters of consequence only. There may be less wars, less conflicts, and less greediness..."

"So you are a peace-maker?" the little prince concluded.

"You may say so. And my job can be carried out more easily if my body can attain an even greater size. But then I may not get enough strength to support myself to be that gigantic..."

"Wow!" the little prince exclaimed, full of respect. "But then why are you here all alone now?"

"Oh, this is a bit tricky," the duck replied. " You know...floating still on the sea and letting people take photos with me is a tiring job. I need to withstand heavy rainfall, strong wind and roaring wave. Therefore, I am here in order to get some rest..."

"I see." The little prince held the duck in high esteem, with a little sympathy also.

"And there's another reason," the duck continued. "Making peace do has tricks. You cannot hold a person taking photos with you without break. Sometimes you need to take a leave for a while, letting him have time to think, and do some little arguments and debates with others occasionally. Otherwise, he himself along with his society cannot make real improvement and that's not real peace."

"Ar ha! That's so interesting!" the little prince was amazed. "Hey duck. Be friends with me."

"My pleasure."

And they became true friends.

"Take a photo with me, duck. It's not about peace-making, but to be a representation of our friendship!"

And they took photos together.

"Thanks duck! I will keep the photo forever. I need to go now...it's so nice to meet you here."

"Take care, my friend." the duck felt a bit sad. "You are so special. I've always remained silent to others, but you are the only one that can make me talk so much like that. Bye! I am sure I will feel lonely without you accompanying me..."

And the little prince went away.

"What a lovely duck!" he said to himself. "If there's chance, I must pay another visit to his planet. I will also bring him my beloved rose -- and we can take photos together!"
